City Car Club is one of the UK’s leading car clubs and provides a cheaper and greener alternative to owning a car. Members of the club have 24-hour access to cars which are parked on the street in convenient locations in seven cities across the UK. There are over 300 cars in London, Brighton, Bristol, Bath, Birmingham, Norwich and Edinburgh and they can be booked by the hour for less than £5 by both residents and businesses. Bookings can be made directly from the cars at a moments notice, on the internet at www.citycarclub.co.uk or over the telephone on 0845 330 1234. Cars are parked in designated parking bays and once booked, members gain access with their smart enabled, personal membership card (totally keyless access). Their PIN is entered onto the onboard computer and then they can just drive away. Journeys made are itemised and sent out on a monthly statement.
City Car Club is much cheaper than owning a car because members don’t have to pay for depreciation, insurance, maintenance or parking permits. Petrol is included in the bill as well (the first 50 miles on any day are free) and there is a card in the car if you ever need to fill up.The savings across a year are substantial and according to new RAC figures a motorist driving 4,000 miles a year in a Vauxhall Corsa would pay around £2,381 on insurance, petrol, maintenance, depreciation, road tax and parking. A City Car doing the same mileage will cost just £1,065. A huge saving of £1,316. And being a member of a car club is good for the environment as well. Each City Car replaces 20 privately owned cars on average and generally our members cut down on unnecessary car journeys by 35% after they join.
